El Corrido de Gregorio Cortez

Wedenesday/Miercoles, August 18th, 7:30pm-9:30pm

104 minutes/minutos

The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez is the retelling of an incident that occurred in Gonzales, Texas in 1901, revolving around a stolen mare, mistaken identity and a killing. Based on the subject of Américo Paredes' book, "With His Pistol in His Hands," and inspired by the Tejano folk ballad, "El Corrido de Gregorio Cortez," the film, as well as the actual incident, involved the ever- tense and unyielding relations and mis-communications between white residents and the Spanish speaking population of Mexicans in this border area.
